MFFL!!

Ethan has had a blast playing basketball this year. He went from standing and watching on the court to becoming more aggressive with the ball. I've enjoyed watching the transformation. For their end-of-the-season party, they were given the opportunity to high-five the Dallas Mavericks as they ran from the tunnel to the court as well as tickets to the game. I was a little hesitant because it happened to fall on a Wednesday which was in the middle of the school week. Anyone with kids knows that you don't mess with the schedule when school is in session. Well, after careful consideration, we decided to go for it. When will he have an opportunity to enjoy an experience like this again? Probably not again. Honestly, it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Apparently the middle of the week is an optimal time to see a Mavs game. Ethan was so excited about seeing Dirk (Nowitzki) that I was sure we were going to have security called on us. I will say this, Mavs may not be considered the NBA Darlings like the Lakers but, they honestly give their 100% to the game and to their fans. LOVE THEM! Mark Cuban even came out and high fived the kiddos. I didn't think Caden would be able to enjoy it or keep up but he did. We even caught him cheering and yelling "Defense!" during the game at times. It probably helps when you have a bag of cotton candy and a pretzel to keep you occupied, too. I will (eventually) upload a video we took of the mayhem.

From India with Love

Brian and I have some amazing and generous friends, Bhavesh and Dhruti Patel, who always bring the boys back little souvenirs when they travel. Well, they took a trip to India to visit family and attend a wedding. When they returned, they had authentic Indian pajamas for the boys. How awesome is that?!
Brian and I decided that when the boys get older, we would like to visit India to immerse in the culture and the people.
Thank you to the Patel family for their generosity. We adore you and so do our boys.

Happy Valentine's Day!

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

The Similarities are Uncanny!

This is my child. He is three. After giving it some thought, it hit me one day. He reminds me of the children's book character David, created by David Shannon. David (the little kid not the author)is always into SOMETHING. And that is exactly who my kid is, friends. Man alive, do I love him!! I wouldn't change a thing about him.

Inclement Weather=Boredom=We're Doing Our Own Thing

We've been iced in the house!! It's Texas. The temperature isn't supposed to dip below 50 degrees. It did. The schools have been shut down for going on 3 days now. EEK! So, bottom line is, my kids were bored out of their gourds. It's not even the fun kind of winter weather either. At least if it snows you got something to do. But, who in their right mind wants to go play on patches of ice? Not me. Plus, we've had a windchill of below zero. Ew. Anyway, because everyone has been experiencing this kind of dealy-o here, the kids had to keep themselves entertained indoors. It's ok. My kids were ready. I found them like this early this morning. They were "pretend camping" with fake food and a latern. In fact, what woke me up was the high pitched wailing of them playing their harmonicas in duet around the "campfire" just like real cowboys. I think my kids are kinda weird in an awesome way. I love their imaginations.

Dressing Up for Fine Dining

My kids like to dress up for meals. What can I say?

Lil LeBron

For those of you who don't know, Ethan started playing basketball this season for Lake Pointe. It was a rough start and a little overwhelming for him. He isn't an aggressive person, by nature. And he likes order and direction in most everything he does. 6-8 year old basketball is NONE of those things. None. It's chaos, it's aggression, it's madness. It's crazy. However, as he has progressed through the season, he's been taking more risks and having a lot more fun with it. In fact, last Saturday, he made his first in-game basket. He's definitely making strides and is enjoying it immensely. I jokingly call him Mama's Lil' LeBron. He wants to be Dirk (Nowitzki)instead. Can't argue with that except, um, babydoll, Dirk's height is not in your genetics. Mommy's so sorry. :)

It starts with one...

and much like ants, they multiply by the thousands. I'm talking about Fisher Price Little People here! Caden doesn't play with his Little People like most kids do. He has two he's particularly fond of, Fess (a caveman) and Linda. He takes them everywhere. Lately though, he's been carrying around some of their friends. He has named them all on his own. He's at the stage of development now where he is able to use these figures to role play any and every imaginary adventure possible. It is hilarious to listen to if you're lucky enough to be able to catch him. The other day, Fess, fell out of the car seat and Linda saved him. Sometimes, I can hear him scolding them about their behavior. For Christmas, we bought him the Little People Happy Sounds Home. I've actually seen people cringe when they find out he has a house to play with. But, I don't care and neither does he. Fess and Linda reside in the home. Caden made sure to move the Little People who came with the house out. Except for the grandparents, he lets them stay "rent free" because they brought their suitcase.
